Perennial (or annual) herbs often perennating with a woody base, viscid-pubescent, suberect or erect, up to 50 cm tall, branched mostly from below, very rarely subglabrous or apparently glaucous. Leaves 3-5-foliolate, lower petiolate, uppermost ternate to simple and subsessile; leaflets oblong, obovate or linear-lanceolate, 5-15 (-20) mm long, 2-4 (-8) mm broad, petiole up to 25 mm (rarely upto 35 mm) long. Racemes lax, bracteate; bracts leafy. Flowers 6-8 mm across, yellow; pedicel 10-15 mm long, filliform, smooth. Sepals 2-3 mm long, c.1-1 mm broad, elliptic-lanceolate, usually glandular. Petals 6-8 mm long, 2-2.5 mm broad, a minute scale-like appendage present at the base towards the inner side. Stamens 6, shorter than the petals.

Gynophore inconspicuous, about 1 mm long. Capsules 5-8 (-10) mm long, 2-3 mm wide, oblong, densely glandular; style persistent, 3-4 mm long; seeds many 0.5-0.8 mm in diam., finely rugulose, maroon-brown, glabrous.
