Comment/Acknowledgements: One of the commonest and largest species with a wide distribution, growing in dry sunny places between 750-3000 m in N.W. Himalaya, Suliman range and Safed Koh.

A large shrub or small tree up to 6 m tall, with hollow pith and pubescent to villous branches. Leaves 2-5(-8) x 1-3(-4) cm, ovate or broadly elliptical, pubescent to villous on both surfaces; petiole short, 3-5-mm. Flowers in pairs in the axils of old leaves, hairy, shorter than calyx. Bracteoles c. 1/3 the length of calyx tube, connate in pairs, pubescent-villous, ciliate, teeth ciliate. Corolla c. 18-20 mm, densely hairy without and within; tube slightly gibbous at the base, 2-tipped, white, fading to yellow. Berries in pairs, sessile or subsessile, ovoid, free, with persistent calyx lobes, white.
