Type-Protologue

Locality: Seeds of this species were collected at Tenguel in the coastal lowland south fo Guayaquil, Ecuador [...] The seeds were sown in the greenhouse of the University of Stockholm, and the plants later on removed into the new greenhouse of the Bergianic Garden (Hortus Bergianus) at Stockholm, where one of the plants flowered last winter. This specimen turned out to be a male one.
