Annual, more or less pubescent, 10-30 cm. Stems many, ascending, branching from base, glandular-pubescent. Leaves 1-3 x 0.05-0.1 cm., narrowly linear, grooved beneath; stipules very short but conspicuous, ovate. Panicles cymose, loose. Bracts minute, scarious. Pedicels thin, much longer than calyx, deflexed to pendulous in fruit. Sepals about 3 mm., ovate, narrowly white-margined, glandular-pubescent. Petals half as long as to slightly longer than sepals, whitish, ovate, obtuse. Stamens 10 or less. Styles 5. Capsule about 4 mm., ovoid, generally 5-valved. Seeds 1-2 mm. in diam., lenticular-globular, narrowly margined, black, minutely tuberculate and white-papillose. Fl. January-April.
