Habitat:

Fallow and irrigated fields. Coastal Galilee, Sharon Plain, Philistean Plain, Upper and Lower Galilee, Mt. Carmel, Esdraelon Plain, Judean Mts., Samarian and Judean Deserts, Hula Plain, Upper Jordan Valley (Kinrot Valley), Bet Shean Valley, Lower Jordan Valley, Dead Sea Valley. Uncommon.

  Annual, glaucescent, minutely puberulent, not glandular, up to 60 cm. Stems simple or branching at base. Lower leaves 4-8 cm., obovate-spatulate to obovate-oblong, tapering at base, upper ones lanceolate or linear, all obtuse, somewhat undulate. In-florescences branched into unequal dichasia. Pedicels of alar flowers slender, long, those of the rest short. Calyx 0.8-1.2 cm., membranous, oblong to obconical, top- to club-shaped in fruit, not umbilicate, puberulent to glabrous, pinkish-white; teeth short, obtuse, ciliate, recurved in fruit. Petals reddish-pink; limb obovate, retuse; coronal scales linear, obtuse. Capsule 7-9 mm., 2-3 times as long as carpophore, ovoid-cylindri-cal. Seeds tuberculate-wrinkled. Fl. March-May.
