Ceratophyllum demersum L., Sp. Pl. 992. 1753.

Hojas verde obscuras, simples o divididas en 2–4 segmentos, segmentos no hinchados, con dentículos marginales conspicuos, exertos sobre una base de tejido ancha. Fruto 3.5–6 mm de largo, 2–4 mm de ancho y 1–2.5 mm de grueso, superficie lisa a tuberculada, espina terminal persistente, 0.5–14 mm de largo, espinas basales 2, 0.1–12 mm de largo (raramente ausentes), bases ocasionalmente membranosas.

Común, en lagos y corrientes de agua, Estelí, Granada, Jinotega; 0–1300 m; fl y fr poco común; Haynes 8562, Moreno 21135; cosmopolita.
