Annual, 10-50 cm high, strongly divaricately branched from the base with stiff branches, greenish or white-tomentose; stem and branches covered with rather long, spreading hairs. Leaves alternate, semi-terete or terete, ± obtuse, narrowing towards base, hairy. Inflorescence wide-spreading with very slender terminal branches. Flowers mostly solitary, axillary; perianth segments hairy, bearing in fruit subulate, stellately expanded broad-based outgrowths, (0.5-) 1-2.5 mm long; seeds almost round, smooth.
