Annotation:
The name
Ipomoea villosa Ruiz & Pav. was lectotypified by the two cited items below [a specimen by Ruiz, Pavón & Dombey s.n.] and a plate [t. 121b]. The name was placed in synonymy of
I. batatas [the specimen] and
I. purpurea [the plate] by Wood et al. (2020). The note on typification on p. 451 of the same reference argues that the specimen (probably collected by Dombey in Ecuador) was made post publication and can thus not be original material. The captured synonymy in Tropicos by the reference Wood et al. (2020) reflect this view [that
I. cillosa is a synonym of
I. purpurea and not of
I. batatas].
