Anthurium Taxonomic Network
Welcome to the Anthurium Taxonomic Network home page. This project deals with the taxonomy and distribution of the largest genus in the family Araceae. This project includes over 1,200 accepted species names; basionyms and synonyms are included when relevant. All the information here is integrated with the Tropicos database.
The primary objective of the Anthurium Taxonomic Network project is to facilitate the identification of sections and species and to provide descriptions, geographic distributions and some ecological information about them. This project provides quick access, where available, to protologues and digital images of type specimens, herbarium materials and living plants for accepted Anthurium species. Type information is presented for each recognized species, usually under the current name rather than a basionym. References to current revisions or monographs are included when available. A standard dichotomous key is provided to easily identify sectional groupings in Anthurium. Species can be identified using the random access LUCID Anthurium key.
The information provided on this website is directed to professional and amateur botanists, horticulturalists, and students alike.
The Advanced Search fields only work for Accepted taxa at the species level and below.
