P. ciliatifolium Michx. var. ciliatifolium

Leaf blades 3–20 mm wide, glabrous or nearly so, sometimes with a few long hairs along the margins near the base. Spikelets (1.6)1.8–2.5 mm long, 1.5–2.4 mm wide, nearly as wide as long, glabrous or nearly so. Sterile floret with the lemma (2)3‑nerved, the midnerve usually present. 2n=20. May–October.

Scattered to uncommon in the eastern and southern portions of the state (southeastern U.S. west to Missouri and Texas). Upland prairies, sand prairies, sandstone glades, savannas, banks of streams and rivers, and marshes; also pastures, fallow fields, roadsides, ditches, and open, disturbed areas.
