Stems with the longer
hairs mostly spreading or loosely ascending. Leaf blades slightly roughened,
the pubescence mostly of relatively soft, slender hairs, these often minutely
pustular-based. Corollas 2.5–4.0 mm long, the tube 2–3 mm long, the lobes 0.7–1.0
mm long, rounded. Nutlets with the dorsal surface having 1 row of apically
barbed tubercles around the margin, these often more or less fused basally into
a narrow, irregular ridge. 2n=48. May–September.
Introduced,
uncommon, known thus far from Christian and Jackson
Counties and the city of St. Louis (native of western North America, Europe, Asia;
introduced farther east in the U.S.
sporadically to the East Coast). Railroads.
