Annotation: The basyonym, Gordonia ovalis, was validated by publication of the illustration with analysis, pl. 28, 25 May 1841. The name on the plate is Gordonia ovalis, while the name in the textual description, Verh. Nat. Gesch. Ned. Bezitt. Bot. 140, is Closaschima ovalis, published 14 Feb 1842. This name should be trated as a combination based on Gordonia ovalis (ICN Art. 41.4). See TL-2 2: 652 (citation 3880 under Korthals) and Turner, Taxon 67(3): 624, 2018.
