Distribution:

Endemic to Iran and Pakistan (Balochistan).

Comment/Acknowledgements:

A rare species that grows on waste lands in sandy gravel and sandy-clay desert soils in  SW of Balochistan province.

Erect, 60 – 70 cm tall, ± woody herb. Stem much branched, basally whitish villose, green-glabrous above, twigs thin, arcuate. Leaves linear-lanceolate, 10 – 20 mm long, 4–7 mm wide, fragile, glabrous, pale to green, villose to glabrescent, sinuate-serrate, teeth prolonged into 1 – 3 mm long spinules; uppermost leaves linear-subulate, 3 – 5 mm long, ca 0.5 mm wide, acuminate. Capitula  solitary, terminal. Involucre 10 – 12 mm long. Phyllaries laxly imbricate, outermost extremely small; inner ca 10 – 11 mm long, glabrescent to almost glabrous, green, apically pale-brown, entire; outer phyllaries oblong to ovate-lanceolate, slightly shorter than inner, acute. Receptacle setose, setae scabrid. Corolla ca 10 mm long, pink, limb lobes 2.5 – 3 mm long. Anthers exserted. Cypselas ± compressed, ca 4.5 mm long, ca 1.8 mm thick, sericeous villose, inconspicuously 4–5–costate, truncate at apices with narrow membranous margin, hilum basal. Pappus multiseriate, bristles 10–11 mm long, dirty white, minutely scabrid.
