Notes:

The identity of this name was detailed its protologue, but nomenclaturally this name is a bit difficult to clarify. This name was cited when published as "Rachicallis maritima (Jacq.) K. Schum.", without citation or any other evident reference to a basionym. The only Rubiaceae species described by Jacquin with the epithet "maritima" is Strumpfia martima, which is morphologically similar and sympatric but which Schumann also accepted and treated separately in this other genus. Without a clear basionym reference, Rachicallis maritima cannot be considered a combination with a basionym and thus dates from Schumann's 1891 publicatoin. Here Schumann cited the older, legitimate name Rachicallis rupestris (Sw.) DC. in synonymy so unless an older basionym can be identified, Schumann's name is a superfluous replacement name.
