Notes
:
Ephippiandra myrtoidea is here considered to include E. microphylla, the type of which (Forsyth Major 326) comes from near Ambositra, i.e., from the middle of the range of the species. Some collections from Andohahela from near the summit of Trafanomby are provisionally excluded and may possibly represent an undescribed species with leaves with an obtuse to rounded apex that often remain green on dried specimens, and were the basis for the description by Lorence (1985)of the androecium of M. microphylla as having a greater number of stamens and a single broad tepal on the inner extremity of each receptacle lobe. Of note also is a collection from the littoral forest at Mandena (Rabevohitra 2133 (= SF(Rabevohitra) 33362)) that belongs to this complex.
