Authors: Published In: Schedulae Orchidianae 2: 33. 1923. (6 Jan 1923) (Sched. Orch.) Name publication detail
Annotation: Often treated as a replacement name for Epidendrum magnibracteatum Ames, but the latter name is not a true homonym of Epidendrum magnibracteum Kraenzl., only confusingly similar. The replacement name proposed by Ames, E. palmense, is superfluous, unless a binding decision has been made ruling them as homonym. Even so under Art. 53.2 the practice of treating them as homonyms could have been continued but others sources such as Bogarin (2014) checklist of Panamanian orchids, the Plant Llist, and perhaps others have followed a strict interpretation of the Code.and adopted use of the earlier name E. magnibracteatum [G.
