Cenchrus granularis L., Mant. Pl. 575 (1771). Lectotipo (designado por Veldkamp et al., 1986): Asia, Anon. (LINN-1217.12).

Mnesithea granularis (L.) Koning et Sosef.

Raíces fúlcreas a menudo presentes. Tallos 10-120 cm, pustuloso-híspidos. Vainas infladas, pustuloso-híspidas; lígula 0.8-1.5 mm; láminas 2-20 cm x 4-15 mm, pustuloso-híspidas. Racimo 7-15 mm. Espiguillas sésiles 1-1.7 mm; gluma inferior 1.3-1.7 mm; gluma superior 0.8-1 mm; lema y pálea superior c. 0.9 mm; anteras 0.2-0.3 mm. Espiguilla pedicelada 1.5-2 mm; anteras 0.9-1.1 mm. 2n=14.
