Tallos 100-200 cm; entrenudos fistulosos, glabros; nudos glabros. Hojas principalmente basales, en su mayoría glabras; hojas caulinares generalmente 3 o 4, alargadas; vainas generalmente no desintegrándose en fibras; lígula 0.5-2.4 mm; láminas hasta 70 cm x 5-11 mm, generalmente glabras o con algunos tricomas alargados hacia la base. Panícula 25-50 x 1-2(-4) cm, cilíndrica; racimos inferiores hasta 3-9 cm, adpresos a ascendentes. Espiguillas 2.9-3.5 mm; callo con tricomas 8-12 mm; gluma inferior y superior 3-nervias; lema inferior 1.2-2.4 mm; lema superior 0.6-1.2 mm; antera 1, 1.3-2 mm. 2n=20. Áreas abiertas perturbadas.
