Flower/Fruit: Fl. Per.: March-April.
Type: Type: “Described from Doab Hindustaniae”, Royle (K).
Distribution: Distribution Kashmir (Jammu, Riasi), India (Uttar Pradesh).
Comment/Acknowledgements: The fibres of the stem are used for rope making and flower buds are eaten as vagetable.
Map Location: Hooker f. (l.c.) has reported it from “Peshawar and the Punjab to Oudh”. According to Parker (l.c.), Hooker f. probably confused Leptandenia pyrotechnica (Forssk.) Dcne. (Leptandenia spartium Wight) for Orthanthera viminea I have not seen any specimen of the latter species from Pakistan. However, it has been reported from “Jammu and Riass” by R.R. Stewart (Ann. Cat. Vasc. Pl.W.Pak. & Kashm. 569. 1972) on the authority of Lambert.
