Notes:
Very inadequately known (2 old sterile specimens both from Nosy Be), this plant is probably much more widely distributed in suitable marine habitats, and is simply undercollected. Referred to Z. nana by Perrier de la Bâthie, according to den Hartog & Kuo (2005), that sp is confined to northern temperate seas, and only Z. capensis is known from the western Indian Ocean, the material from Madagascar is however too poor to be able to confirm an identification.
