Polypodium decumanum Willd., Sp. Pl. 5: 170 (1810). Holotipo: Brasil, Hoffmannsegg s.n. (microficha MO! ex B-W-19640).

Epífitas; rizoma 1-3 cm de ancho, las escamas 6-15 mm, densamente denticuladas; lámina glabra en el envés; pinnas 15-35 x 3.5-5, el ápice atenuado, acuminado. Selvas altas perennifolias. T (Conrad et al. 2909, MO); Ch (Martínez S. 8002, MO); Y (Lundell 4835, MO); B (Gentry 88, F); G (Dary R. 1025, F); H (Edwards P-685, MO); CR (Lellinger, 1989: 265). 0-200 m. (S. Florida, México, Mesoamérica, Colombia, Venezuela, Guayanas, Ecuador, Perú, Bolivia, Brasil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina, Antillas.)

Gómez (1980) señaló que Phlebodium decumanum y P. pseudoaureum (tratada como P. aureum) se entrecruzan en Honduras produciendo un híbrido con 74 cromosomas no apareados, 37 de los cuales son grandes y 37 son pequeños. Desafortunadamente, no se citaron ejemplares de referencia. Gómez señaló además que el nombre P. dictyocallis (Fée) Mett. representaba el híbrido, pero no mencionó haber visto el tipo.
