Polypodium brachyodus Kunze, Linnaea 9: 48 (1834). Isotipo: Perú, Poeppig s.n. (W!).

Dryopteris glandulosa (Desv.) C. Chr. var. brachyodus (Kunze) C. Chr., Thelypteris brachyodus (Kunze) Ching.

Tricomas costales abaxialmente en su mayoría 0.1 mm o menos, de longitudes uniformes. Ch (Breedlove 34189, DS); B (Schipp 362, UC); G (von Türckheim 8813, US); H (Ames 104, US); N (Proctor 27316, NY); CR (Moran 3208, UC). 0-1100 m. (Mesoamérica, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú.)

Esta variedad fue citada erradamente para Panamá por Smith (1981: 236).
