Notes: B. ramiflora has three varieties: comorensis, bernieri, and ramiflora The first variety is restricted to the Comoro Islands. B. ramiflora v. bernieri is from eastern Madagascar with a northern population that can be distinguished from the others by its discolorous leaves. B. ramiflora v. ramiflora is highly variable and probably has another entity lumped within it as numerous collections from the region of Andasibe, Mantadia, and Perinét lack the characteristic thick pubescence, and, instead, have scales on the undersides of their leaves. B. ramiflora v. ramiflora can be difficult to distinguish from B. perrieri; see the latter for more information.
