Annual, 23–54 cm tall, herbs, stem branched, pubescent. Leaves simple, opposite, on 5–15 mm long petiole, lamina ovate or obovate, lanceolate,  3–7 cm long, 1.4–5 cm wide, acuminate, cuneate or rounded, strigose, margins dentate or serrate. Capitula solitary, axillary, radiate, 6–8 mm long, across peduncles 1–2 cm long. Involucre campanulate or hemispheric. Phyllaries 2–seriate, outer linear, narrow, ca 6 mm long, ca 2 mm wide, inner phyllaries ovate, ca 5 mm long, ca 3 mm wide. Ray florets female, few, ligule white, 2–3–lobed.  Disc florets tubular – campanulate, ca 5.5 mm long, 5–lobed; anther tails obtuse dentate.  Cypselas of the ray florets triquetrous to dorsally compressed, dark brown, ca 3.5 mm long, disc cypselas laterally compressed, truncate at the apex, 4.5– 7.2 mm long. Pappus of 2–3, unequal, awns.
