Notas
:
This species is common, morphologically somewhat variable, and widespread. It is found mainly in secondary and seasonal vegetation. As circumscribed here however it is less variable than it has been treated by some authors. In particular Zappi & Nunes, Standley (various South American floras), and Hamilton (in sched.) included in Psychotria carthagenensis plants that are here separated in Psychotria pichisensis, Psychotria pedunculosa, Psychotria guianensis, and Psychotria montivaga.
