Notas : This species has a somewhat robust, rhizomatous habit, elliptic to ovate leaves with well developed petioles, cymose to usually racemiform inflorescences that are borne in the lower parts of the bare stems on well developed peduncles, red rotate corollas 6-7 mm long, and subglobose fruits. The leaves characteristically have an evident, continuous submarginal vein. Hoffmannia liesneriana is quite similar to Hoffmannia davidsoniae.
Distribución : At 100-1500 m, Costa Rica and western Panama.
