Distribution:

Perennial, rhizomatous, 5-30 cm tall, villous, procumbent or decumbent, creeping caespitose herbs. Leaves opposite 1-2.5 x 0.5-1.5 cm, lanceolate to ovate or sometimes suborbicular, entire to shallowly crenate-dentate, obtuse at base and apex, glandular hairy, sessile, upper ones 1-5 mm long petiolate. Raceme terminal and lateral, 2-20 cm long, lax, 10-30-flowered, glandular and eglandular hairy; pedicels 2-4 mm long, accrescent in fruit up to 6 mm, erect; bracts 2-3 mm long. Calyx 4-lobed, lobes ovate. Corolla 5-8 mm across, variable in colour, white, blue, pink or purplish-red with blue veins, tube hairy inside. Stamens as long as corolla or slightly exserted. Capsule 2.5-3.5 x 4-5.5 mm, strongly compressed, broadly obovate, slightly notched, glandular-ciliate, wider than long; style c. 2.5 mm long, exserted. Seeds numerous, 0.7-0.9 x 0.5-0.7 mm, flat or slightly convex on both sides, elliptic, yellowish.
