Annual, 5-30 cm tall, diffusely branched, erect or slightly decumbent herbs; branches slender, hairy. Leaves 5-11 x 4-9 mm, dense, ovate to suborbicular, deeply incised, 5-9-toothed, glabrous to hairy, opposite; petiole 1-5 mm long. Flowers in lax terminal racemes pedicels in fruits 3-15 mm long, reflexed, densely hairy; bracts alternate, occasionally basally opposite, stalked, leaf-like. Calyx 4-lobed, basally connate, in fruit 4-6 x 2.5-4 mm, lobes broad-ovate, distinctly veined, hairy. Corolla 4-8 mm across, bluish to blue with purple throat. Stamens inserted. Capsule 3-4 x 4-6 mm, densely glandular and eglandular hairy, sinus very short, slightly inflated, obscurely reticulately veined, lobes rounded; style 1-1.6 mm long, as long as sinus or slightly exserted. Seeds 16-24 per capsule, 1-1.6 x 0.7-1.3 mm, boat-shaped, dorsally rugose with parallel ribs, yellowish.
