Annual, 5-15 cm tall, hairy, erect herbs. Leaves in whorl of 4 at the base of inflorescence, oblong-ovate or ovate-oblong, serrate-crenate, lower leaves entire, tridentate to serrate at the base of stem, 10-25 x 5-15 mm, oblong-ovate or ovate-oblong, broadest in the centre or little below, hairy; petiole 2-5 mm long. Raceme terminal, many-flowered, lax, pubescent; peduncle 1 cm long; pedicels in fruits 4-12 mm long, usually erect, sometimes patent, slightly curved; bracts 2-8 mm long, ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate. Calyx 4-lobed, connate up to middle in pairs appearing as 2-lobed calyx; lobes 2.5 mm long, in fruit 6-12 x 4-10 mm, rhomboid-ovate, 2-3-veined, reticulate, acute, pubescent. Corolla 2-4 mm across, bluish. Stamens inserted. Capsule 3-4.5 x 4.5-5.5 mm, broadly obcordate, sinus ½ to ⅓ deep, lobes ovate-orbicular, glandular and eglandular hairy; style less than 1 mm long, inserted. Seeds 6-8 per capsule, 1.3 x 1 mm, ovate, deeply boat-shaped, yellowish.
