Standard Note:
Instead of one polymorphic species as is recognized here, a number of authors recognize two taxa. Cristo|4bal (1989) recognized two varieties based on fruit dehiscence, not leaf pubescence (viz., ~G. ulmifolia~ var. ~ulmifolia~ and ~G. ulmifolia~ var. ~tomentella~ K. Schum.). If recognized as species, the correct names are ~G. ulmifolia~ and ~G. invira~ (not ~G. tomentosa~), respectivelyý
