Annotation: The author's intent to include Urtica herniarioides in his new genus Pilea is discussed in Part 2 (sub t. 4), published in 1821; however, the combination is not validly published there, according to the conditions of ICBN Art. 33.1. Those conditions are met in the index to the work, at the end of Part 8, published in 1826 (where the location of the intended basionym is also referenced). ICBN Art. 45.1 specifies that "when the various conditions for valid publication are not simultaneously fulfilled, the date is that on which the last is fulfilled." Therefore, the date of valid publication for Pilea herniarioides (Sw.) Lindl. must be 1826.
