Plants small to medium-sized, 10–22 mm high, yellowish green to light brownish, in dense tufts. Stems simple or monopodial; in cross section outer cortical cells small, thick-walled; central strand absent. Leaves appressed to involuted or contorted distally when dry, erect-spreading when moist, lanceolate to linear-lanceolate, 1.0–1.8 mm × 0.2–0.4 mm, acuminate at the apex; margins plane, entire; costa excurrent in a short point; upper and median laminal cells irregularly rounded, 6–12 µm × 8–14 µm, rather thick-walled, with rounded pluripapillae; basal laminal cells irregularly narrow-rectangular, thin-walled, smooth, 10–26 µm × 4–8 µm, narrower and shorter toward margins, more or less with rounded differentiated area at the leaf base; abaxial superficial cells of costa above the mid-leaf linear-rectangular. Inner perichaetial leaves smaller than stem leaves. Setae 12–14 mm long, reddish brown, not twisted; capsules short-cylindrical, ca. 0.6 mm × 0.4 mm. Spores 17–20 µm in diameter.
