Plants medium-sized, 20–30 mm high, dark green to reddish brown, in dense tufts. Stems erect, usually branched, densely foliate, radiculose at the base. Leaves contorted-flexuous when dry, erect-spreading when moist, ovate- to triangular-lanceolate, gradually acuminate toward the apex; margins entire, somewhat revolute; costa slender, ending just below the apex; upper leaf cells rounded quadrate to pentagonal, moderately thick-walled, unipapillose or mammillose; basal cells irregularly rectangular, smooth, hyaline. Setae straight; peristome teeth linear-lanceolate, irregularly divided to the middle; opercula conic-rostrate, with a short beak.
