Ecology. Humid puna; exposed, often wet habitats, on soil, humus, and rocks. Elevation. 3570-4800 m. Distribution. Bolivia: La Paz. World range: Southern Mexico, Venezuela to northern Peru, and apparently disjunct to central Bolivia (simply a lack of collecting).
 
Ecología. Puna húmeda; a menudo en hábitats húmedos, expuestos, sobre suelo, humus, y rocas. Altitud. 3570-4800 m. Distribución. Bolivia: La Paz. Distribución mundial: sur de México, Venezuela hasta norte de Perú, y aparentemente disyunto a laregión central de Bolivia (simplemente falta de colecciones).
 
Campylopus pittieri is often a moderately large species, with equally foliate stems to 8 cm, leaves 6-8 mm long, costa nearly the entire width at leaf base, ventral hyalocysts large, twice or more high than wide, dorsal with alternating chlorocyst and hyalocysts cells, alar cells absent, basal cells long rectangular and thin-walled, at the margin forming a border of 5-15 rows of narrower cells, upper cells irregularly quadrate to short rectangular or oval. Campylopus renneri Herzog, collected from Moränental Torreni (La Paz), is a synonym.
 
Campylopus pittieri a menudo es una especie moderadamente grande, tallos con hojas distribuidas homogéneamente hasta 8 cm, hojas 6-8 mm de largo, costa ocupando casi toda la base de la hoja, hialocistos ventrales grandes, dos veces o más altos que anchos, alternando con clorocistos dorsales y hialocistos, células alares ausentes, células basales largo rectangulares y con paredes delgadas, margen con borde de 5-15 filas de células angostas, células superiores irregularmente cuadradas a corto rectangulares u ovales. Campylopus renneri Herzog, colectada en Moränental Torreni (La Paz), es un sinónimo.
