Plants rather robust, in loose tufts. Stems erect, 5–6 cm high, usually multi-branched, sparsely foliate. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, slenderly acuminate at apex, not sheathing at base, plicate; margins narrowly recurved, serrate near apex; costae percurrent; apical leaf cells elongate-rhomboidal; median cells rectangular or oblong-rhomboidal, papillose at upper ends; basal cells elongate-rhomboidal; smooth. Dioicous. Perichaetial leaves plicate, 3.5–5.5 mm long. Setae 5–6 cm long; capsules elongate-ovoid, ca. 5 mm long, smooth, without a distinct apophysis.
