Notes:
Ecology:Montane forest to shrubby páramo and puna, on shrubs, trunk and branches of trees. Elevation: 1042-3750 m (Venezuela: 1700 m, Colombia: 2100-3700 m, Ecuador: 1800-3750 m, Peru: 1780-3200 m, Bolivia: 1042-3060 m, NW Argentina: 1540 m). Distribution: Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Andes and southeast Brazil.
 
Ecología: Bosque montano a páramo arbustivo y puna, sobre tronco y ramas de arbustos y árboles. Elevación: 1042-3750 m (Venezuela: 1700 m, Colombia: 2100-3700 m, Ecuador: 1800-3750 m, Perú: 1780-3200 m, Bolivia: 1042-3060 m, NO Argentina). Distribución: Costa Rica, República Dominicana, Andes y sudeste de Brasil.
 
Neckera scabridens is characterized by inconspicuous or absent stem paraphyllia (less than 0.5 mm long), undulate stem and branch leaves, acute apices, 3-5 alar cells on the non-fold side of leaf, and immersed capsules. Neckera bogotensis Mitt., N. lindigii Hampe and N. trabeculata Herzog are synonyms.
 
Neckera scabridens se caracteriza por los parafilos inconspicuous o ausentes en el tallo (menores a 0.5 mm de largo), hojas onduladas en tallos y ramas, ápices agudos, 3-5 células alares en el lado no doblado de la hoja, y cápsulas inmersas. Neckera bogotensis Mitt., N. lindigii Hampe y N. trabeculata Herzog son sinónimos.
