Plants delicate, medium-sized, ca. 3–5 cm long, dark green to yellowish green, brownish when old, in thin, interwoven matches. Stems regularly bipinnately branched; branches 5 cm long; central strand differentiated; paraphyllia densely growing on stems and branches, filamentous, branched, up to 10 cells long, apical cells multipapillose. Stem leaves incurved when dry, erect-patent when moist, ca. 0.6 mm long, gradually narrowed from a triangular base to a lanceolate apex, secund toward one side; margins serrate; costa hyaline, up to 4/5 the leaf length, mammillose on back; median leaf cells opaque, rhomboidal to rectangular, 8–20 µm wide, thin-walled, each cells with a single fine papilla; apical cells oblong, smooth; branch leaves appressed when dry, triangular to triangularly ovate; costa up to or near leaf apex. Autoicous. Perichaetial leaves erect, oblong-lanceolate, serrate. Seta reddish brown, ca. 2 cm long, smooth; capsules oblong-ovoid or short-cylindrical, ca. 1.5 mm long, horizontal or declinate; opercula conic, long beaked; peristome teeth Hypnum-type; cilia undeveloped. Spores ca. 10–15 µm in diameter, finely papillose.
Description of this species is adopted from Cyrto-hypnum vestitissimum by P.-C. Wu et al. (2002).
