Annual, apparently dichotomously branched, erect or suberect herbs, ± hairy with simple or branched hairs, rarely glabrous. Leaves oblanceolate or linear, simple, lower and those on the main stem comparatively larger, ± stalked, sinuate toothed to almost entire. Inflorescence spicate, often arising opposite the leaf, ebracteate, lax and elongated in fruit. Flowers minute, white; pedical very short, erect and appressed in fruit. Sepals not saccate at base. Petals slightly longer than sepals, narrowly spathulate. Stamens 6; filaments linear; anthers short, subglobose. Lateral nectar glands in pairs, minute; middle ones absent. Ovary ± globose, 2-ovuled, with about equally long, narrow, beak-like apical part ending in depressed, sub-bilobed stigma. Siliculae globose or sub-globose, with a narrow beak-like apical part, bilocular, indehiscent; valves glabrous or hairy; septum complete thickened; seeds 1 in each locule, suborbicular, brownish; radicle accumbent in mature state.
