Notes
:
This unusual species is characterized by its monocaul habit with unusually large, ternate, obovate, subsessile leaves clustered near the stem apex; its subsessile, subcapitate, several-to many-flowered inflorescences; its very long white to pink corollas with the tube 16-19 cm long and the lobes obtuse at the apex; and its lageniform (i.e., flask-shaped) fruits. The corollas are noted in the protologue to be white to pink at anthesis, and become yellowed with age. De Block (2007) noted that these flowers are presumably pollinated by hawkmoths.
