Perennial with woody base, erect, branched mostly from below, glabrous, glaucous, up to 60 cm tall. Leaves elliptic-oblong, fleshy, entire acute; lower shortly stalked, 7-10 cm long, 3-6 cm broad; upper much smaller, linear or lanceo¬late, sessile or subsessile. Racemes lax, 10-30-flowered. Flowers 10-15 mm ac¬ross, whitish or pale lilac; pedicel 5-10 mm long in fruit, subappressed, sometimes deflexed, hardly thickened. Sepals 7-8 mm long, 2 mm broad. Petals 12-16 mm long, 3 mm broad. Stamens about 7:9 mm, long; anthers 3-4 mm long. Siliculae 15-28 mm long, 12-20 mm broad, biarticulated, winged; lower part 5-8 mm long, 1-1.5 mm broad, with a distinct mid-vein on the valves, sterile, usually more than half of it winged (wing continuous in both the parts of fruit) ; upper part broadly winged (wing 4-6 mm wide), forming the rest of the fruit; seed chamber ovoid or elliptic with a narrow upper portion, 3-5 mm wide, without a distinct mid-vein on the valves; apex often ± notched with a prominent bilobed conical stigma, bilocular, indehiscent, 1-2 seeded; septum thin, not veined.
