Notes:
This species is similar to Carapichea dolichophylla, and they are distinguished basically by the form of the inflorescence: enclosed by two bracts that are much larger than the other bracts in Carapichea dolichophlla, vs. with all the outer bracts generally similar in size in Carapichea affinis. Carapichea affinis has a broader geographic range and is more commonly collected. The secondary chemistry of this species was studied by Bernhard (2011).
