Zohary (1972) reported the species, without citing supporting vouchers, for Samaria, the Judean Desert, and Lower Jordan Valley, but the species as circumscribed sensu Kit Tan (1980) is restricted to the Spanish Pyrenees. The Zohary material was most likely Thymelaea aucheri or T. gussonei.
