General notes:
This taxon, belonging to the difficult Wikstroemia indica species complex, is tentatively accepted following Fosberg & Oliver (1979), where it was reported for the Mariana (Saipan, Tinian, Rota, Guam) and Caroline Islands (Palau). Halda (2001) treated Wikstroemia elliptica as a synonym of Daphne indica subsp. indica. The delimitation of taxa in the complex needs further study.
