Description Small creeping herbs; stems slender, rooting at the nodes, glabrous. Leaves ovate to ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, rounded at the base, sessile, 0.5-3.0 cm. long, greatly reduced toward the inflorescence, glabrous; sheaths 0.2-0.5 cm. long, glabrous. Inflorescence umbelliform, few-flowered, terminal, occasionally also lateral in the axils of the reduced upper leaves, subtended by 2 inconspicuous, slightly foliaceous bracts 0.1-0.3 cm. long; pedicels 0.2-0.3 cm. long, minutely puberulent. Flowers inconspicuous, white; sepals lanceolate, 0.15-0.2 cm. long, scarious or very slightly foliaceous; petals about 0.25 cm. long.
Distribution Peninsular Florida and southeastern Mexico to northern Colombia; Greater Antilles. In wet forests and fields at low elevations.
