Colea hispidissima Seem. (Bignoniaceae) is based on a mixed gathering by Boivin. The flowers can be referred to Vitex congesta Oliv. and the leaves to Rhodocolea humblotiana (Baill.) Callm. & Phillipson. The flowering portion of the Boivin collection has been designated as the lectotype (as "Boivin 1820a)." Thus, the combination has been published with the name Vitex hispidissima (Seem.) Callm. & Phillipson. for this earlier basionym following ICBN.
