Description: Plants medium-sized to large. Stem branched or unbranched. Corm tunics papery or leathery to fibrous. Leaves several, mostly basal  in a fan,  narrowly lanceolate to lanceolate, firm-textured, plane with thickened main vein and margins, usually at least 4 mm wide. Spike mostly few-flowered; bracts smooth, margins of inner bracts free. Flowers medium to large, weakly or more strongly bilabiate, often pink, nectar guides pale and lozenge-shaped outlined with red or purple, unscented; perianth tube usually obliquely funnel-shaped, shorter or longer than dorsal tepal; lower tepals narrower but usually ± as long as upper. Anthersnever tailed. Capsules usually large, oblong and rounded, rarely obscurely lobed above. Seeds broadly and evenly winged.
