Trees, 20 – 40 (-50) m tall, with 10 – 20 m broad, usually spreading crown from a solitary trunk. Bark smooth with white, grey or bluish patches, deciduous in flakes or sheets, mostly some rough, dark grey to blackish-brown bark present at the base of trunk. Leaves alternate, petiole 1.5 – 2.4 cm long, lamina broadly lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, 10 – 20 x 1 – 2.5 cm. Inflorescence axillary, 7 (-11)-flowered umbels on 7 – 25 mm long peduncles. Pedicels 3 – 10 mm long. Flowers white. Buds spindle-shaped or fusiform-conical, 10 – 20 mm long, with 8 – 15 x 4 – 6 mm, acutely conical calyptra; hypanthium hemispherical, 2 – 4 mm long and as broad as calyptra. Fruit pedicellate, subglobose-ovoid, 4-5-loculed, 4 – 6 x 4 – 8 mm; disc prominent, raised or steeply ascending, valves strongly exserted. Seeds cuboid or elongated, pitted, brownish-black.
