Rarity : Known from more than 5 localities in Madagascar.
Notes : This species is characterized by its rather slender habit, and habitat in dry vegetation; its rather small, generally obovate, shiny leaves; its sessile to shortly pedunculate, lax, generally fastigiate, several-flowered inflorescences with well developed pedicels; its short calyx limb; its white corollas with the tube 2.8-3.5 mm long and the buds acute to acuminate at the apex; and its somewhat small fruits. This species has been collected at least sometimes on tsingy limestone substrates in deciduous vegetation. It is similar in general aspect to Ixora mangabensis, which is found in humid forest and has pedunculate branched inflorescences.
