Notes:

In the past material from Madagascar has been referred to the following genera: Canthium, Cremaspora, Fernelia & Rothmannia, but as currently circumscribed none of these genera are currently regarded as present in Madagascar. Species formerly referred to Canthium are now various scattered among: Peponidium, Psydrax, Pyrostria, Vangueria & Rytigynia. Specimens tentatively referred to Rothmannia are now placed in Hyperacanthus (Rakotonasolo & Davis, 2001).
