Notes
:
This species is characterized by its robust habit; its large, rather narrowly elliptic, petiolate, coriaceous leaves that are sharply acuminate at the apex and usually dry with a greenish brown color and the venation not very evident; its congested, subsessile to shortly pedunculate, several-flowered inflorescences with developed bracts; its sessile flowers with triangular calyx lobes and long white corollas with the tube 10.5-12 cm long; and its medium-sized, often ellipsoid to ovoid fruits. It has been confused with Ixora siphonantha, which has thinner-textured leaves, lax inflorescences on well developed peduncles, and much larger corollas. Ixora mocquerysii has often been overlooked, and is apparently local but not extremely uncommon based on the collections seen.
